Grimace
Special mention should be made of the character's mentally retarded status. He was designed as a "feel good" ambassador to children with special needs and it's worthy of note in the article itself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.88.228.158 (talk) 19:03, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
McDonaldland characters merge
- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section.
The result of this discussion was Merge
It has been two weeks (or 2 years) since this proposal was made and no one has said any thing against it. I will begin the merge today. Only three statements in two years, I guess that is the way it is sometimes.

Would anyone object strongly to merging the characters from McDonaldland (except Ronald) back to this page?--nixie 01:54, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- None here; my only comment to it is that we should make sure to make the existing stubbed articles about the characters into redirects. — THOR 16:16, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)
I just tagged the article as needing a merge with the character pages, I got to the talk page and found out that it was proposed already two years ago. I guess I wasn't the only one to think of this, that make sense.
Reasons for merger:
- Besides Ronald, the individual characters' articles are all stubs and they really would fit in the main body of this article;
- Most of the material in the articles is duplicated across the various article, primarily the information about the streamlining done in the 1980's;
- In several of these articles more than half is a trivia section;
- Many of the minor character articles consist only a single or pair of paragraphs;
- The Kroft's lawsuit is mentioned in several articles that are all about the same topic.
I am going to contact the editors about the two posts from 2005 and see if the are still of the same mind.

I posted this on their talk pages :
==McDonaldland merger==
Hello,
In 2005 you posted to the McDonaldland talk pages about a proposed merge of the individual characters' pages into the main body of the McDonaldland article. I cannot see if this was ever done and I have recently proposed the same.
If you would like to comment on this, please check out the McDonaldland characters merge discussion.

Support I put the reasons in the proposal - Jeremy (Jerem43 07:54, 7 October 2007 (UTC))
- Cheers on the follow-up, and I still support an appropriate merge. — pd_THOR | =/\= | 11:23, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
Professor
There was also a "Professor" character. I remember him having long, white hair and a beard, wire-rim spectacles, and a lab coat. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 20:04, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
Grimace
Citation needed for the elimination of Grimace. 71.244.186.214 (talk) 02:08, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
I removed Grimace is known for his "monotonous face" because at best it is waxing poetic and at worst is nonsensical. Monotony has a definite element of time that Grimace's eternal youth will never show! All joking aside, feel free to comment on Grimace's face, just use appropriate adjectives. Degelh (talk) 08:38, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
I removed "aka Niecie" for lack of any reference or memory of that name ever being used.Zooks527 (talk) 17:54, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
How does anyone know that Grimace is supposed to be a tastebud? The only source in the article doesn't mention this, and some people think he's supposed to be a spilled milkshake or a moldy chicken nugget. I actually emailed McDonald's customer service a few years ago to have this verified, but the customer service rep replied that he is "Ronald's right hand man", "jolly fellow", but nothing specific about what he IS. I don't think he should be classified as a tastebud unless there's a source which cites this. Plath81 (talk) 14:13, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- This was the cause of a heated debate. A coworker and I argued this for months. After time and effort spent trying to contact McDoonald's corporate office, they confirmed that Grimace is a taste bud. Can't really provide a citation though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.69.239.103 (talk) 06:58, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
Rubbish. They probably told you he was a tastebud to get you off their backs. No citation - no tastebud. "Encyclopedic content must be verifiable". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.253.76.148 (talk) 11:47, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
- this is definitely true. I reached out to one of the people involved in making the ads via Facebook, and he is of the opinion that Grimace was never intended to be anything more than Grimace. The taste bud lie is perpetuated by franchisees in Canada attempting to get their name in headlines. 172.117.53.162 (talk) 01:20, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
It's a city because it has a mayor?
I can't agree. Cities are not the only governments to have mayors. E.g.
- Victor, NY, is a village with a mayor
- as was a tiny village in Spain
- Shrewsbury, New Jersey is a borough with a mayor
--Badger151 (talk) 17:11, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
I grew up in a town called Puyallup and they have no mayor! They have a guy they call a "City Manager" who handles things. Degelh (talk) 08:37, 11 June 2008 (UTC) [[Puyallup[1]]] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Degelh (talk • contribs) 08:40, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Missing Characters
I noticed while looking through here that there's a character that isn't mentioned whom I recall seeing in a few McDonald's commercials, enough for her to be noteable at least. I can't remember her name exactly, but she was like this wooly-mammoth looking creature who would often eat things that shouldn't be eaten. Anyone know who I'm talking about? I wish I could remember, but those commercials were on so long ago that I'm surprised I even remember this character. –168.91.255.100 (talk) 17:43, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
- There were a lot more characters that should be listed, I remember a buzzard/vulture/eagle that made some occasional apperances, and there was a dragon and his brother in a few commercials. I don't remember their names, but just to bring this up to bring the diversity on how many cahracters McDonald's used. The previous character that was like a wolly mammoth that eats things that are inedible, I believe her name was Bernice.--130.65.60.52 (talk) 22:09, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
- It's almost definitely Bernice. She showed up in "Something Awful on TV", and "Makin' Movies" 172.117.53.162 (talk) 23:07, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
- I remember the vulture, dragon, and dragon's big brother too. They were in the 90's like that Iam Hungry character. If YouTube had videos of those characters, then we'd have a shot at who voiced those characters. Also, I don't think they counted Mac Tonight as a McDonaldland character since he promoted the late night hours for the adults. Rtkat3 (talk) 3:30, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
