– I don't think there's a clear primary topic. All Google, Images and some Books results are for McDonald's, the restaurant. While the name gets around 2 thirds of views of things called Macdonald/McDonald, 2,047 for the name 793 for Pennsylvania, 264 for Ohio, 255 for Kansas, 66 for Manitoba, 62 for North Carolina, 22 for West Virginia, 14 for the electoral district, 6 for Missouri and 5 for the crater, the restaurant gets 139,042 and Macdonald triad gets 13,927. The surname may be the original meaning but it doesn't seem primary especially when the "D" is capitalized. There is 1 given name namely Macdonald Carey so I have used "name" per WP:APOAT but Macdonald Carey could be moved to the DAB and we instead use Macdonald (surname) for the article. • Oppose Seems to be the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for terms spelled Macdonald.[1] We generally should not redirect to misspellings, so I don't consider other spelling variants. Outging pageviews does not suggest that people are clicking out enough to think most are arriving here in error.—Bagumba (talk) 08:29, 14 February 2022 (UTC)
• Support per detailed and well-reasoned nomination. Since both MacDonald and McDonald redirect to Macdonald (disambiguation), rather than have their own separate disambiguation pages, the Macdonald name entry, which may not even be the name's most common form, thus also becomes the primary topic over MacDonald, McDonald as well as the ten additional variants of this name listed under Macdonald (disambiguation)#See also. • Support. MacDonald and McDonald are alternate spellings of the same word, like color or colour. Trying to treat them differently would just be more confusing. Rreagan007 (talk) 00:11, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
• Leaning oppose. The construction, "Macdonald", is clearly a surname, and everything else named that will have been named for someone with that surname, or to evoke such a surname. The restaurant, of course, is spelled with an "'s". BD2412 T 03:40, 18 February 2022 (UTC)

• Support per nom and Rreagan - McDonald and Macdonald are the same construct, and there's no primary topic for them, given the prominence of the fast food chain. Dicklyon's suggestion to make the dab page be at McDonald is also sensible. — Amakuru (talk) 10:33, 15 March 2022 (UTC)
