I think "August" in this line is incorrect, because, according to the article, the team make ready to depart in july and reach a port later in july: Ergo the ice 'allowed them to begin steaming out' in july (and not in august has written), no? But perhaps there is a different error, such as one of the other months, I don't know the history involved. "Preparations for departure were made in July, and a cairn containing detailed records of their efforts was constructed. On 9 August the ice allowed them to begin steaming out, and despite the loss of their two engineers and dangerous ice, open seas were soon reached. The port of Godhavn was reached on 29 July where their Inuit guides were paid and discharged." 67.247.28.133 (talk) 03:46, 9 September 2011 (UTC)dUg[reply]

Melville Island?

[edit]

There is a picture in this article that should probably not be there: Neither the Franklin, nor the McClintock expedition ever went to Melville island. A picture of Boothia Peninsula or King William Island would be more appropriate. 2A00:20:3059:8B6A:3309:66E4:436C:5081 (talk) 07:31, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@2A00:20:3059:8B6A:3309:66E4:436C:5081 McClintock explored Melville Island in 1853 with the Henry Kellett expedition. 2A02:8071:684:4380:C1FF:85D2:D6D6:8D07 (talk) 21:06, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
