Hybrid variant?
[edit]Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I read about a hybrid variant only for Japan? I couldn't find it in the article anywhere, and I think it might be important. Sagquattro2009 (talk) 15:12, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
Less distractions?
[edit]@Vauxford: I don't get the message, what's more distractive in the images you replaced. I see more or less the same background. Could you please explain? I don't see any improvement.--Alexander-93 (talk) 12:43, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- Alexander-93 I intentionally avoided your question because I think it obvious what the reason why I replaced it. What I'm not impressed with is you reverting the last edit simply because I didn't respond. Just because no one got back to you. You have a terrible habit of self-inserting your own photos in every Wikipedia page out there (I admit I formally did the same myself) but it just ain't worth it, if the picture on the Lithuania version of this article or any car article doesn't have the up-to-date picture so be it, let the native users add it in their own time or not at all. I don't go around muddling your car articles over at the German Wikipedia. I personally think it not anyone's business what should be on what foreign Wiki and should stick to their main one (wink wink, nudge nudge). --Vauxford (talk) 18:14, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Vauxford: As I mentioned here, I don't see the English Wikipedia as foreign. I'm also able to speak and write English and I'm using it a lot for getting information. So why shouldn't I edit here? You are also welcome to add constructive content to the German Wikipedia. But in the past you didn't do and you were rebuked - by many German users. And then you stopped working there. That's not my fault.
And now we should stick to the topic: I did not even insert the image here. I only recognized your edit and I don't see the distractions you mentioned. That's the reason, why I was asking! So could you please explain?--Alexander-93 (talk) 18:48, 16 March 2021 (UTC)

- For starters, it looked like it came straight off the boat, very noisy and washed out, both pictures has distraction behind them however, the one I took seems less chaotic and look more presentable. --Vauxford (talk) 18:59, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks for your answer. You're right, the picture is too noisy. I somehow deactivated the noise reduction by revising the image after someone edited the jpeg. I uploaded the picture again a few minutes ago.
But nevertheless I see more distractions in your image (reflections on the hood, slightly tilted vehicle, price tag in the red car, advertisement at the store window, visible COVID-rules in the showroom). And that's why I'm going to ask for a third opinion.--Alexander-93 (talk) 19:48, 16 March 2021 (UTC)

Third opinion
[edit]There is a disagreement about the images listed below. Two were replaced with two others at the end of February. I think the replacement was not necessary and to avoid an edit-war, I'm asking for a third opinion. All images are not perfect and have some distractions: The arguments against the replaced pictures: more noisy, washed out, uncalm background. The arguments against the current pictures: reflections on the hood with an uneven color gradient, slightly tilted vehicle, price tag in the red car, advertisement at the store window, visible COVID-rules in the showroom. Thanks in advance. P.S. @Vauxford: Please feel free to add more arguments.--Alexander-93 (talk) 20:06, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- The tilted angle is correct right angle since there a slight incline, and the "COVID-rules in the showroom"? I didn't even noticed it until I looked really hard. --Vauxford (talk) 20:16, 16 March 2021 (UTC)

3O Response: Bravo for seeking a 3rd opinion. All the pictures look OK to my not-particularly-special eyes. I have a mild preference towards the Current pictures because the colour saturation is 'punchier' and there is no number plate visible. It's only a mild preference because the red car(s) in the backgrounds are a bit of a distraction. There's not a strong case either way, and I would recommend you don't rely solely on this opinion, and consequently I haven't deleted the link to here from the 3O page. (Perhaps get a couple more opinions, or wait a day then delete the link to here from the 3O page?) I applaud your spirit. Chumpih. (talk) 05:28, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
3O Response: Focusing on the car itself only as the car is the main point of the image placement, the car in the new pictures seems to be newer and does not have license plates. The color saturation in the new picture makes it look nicer, though this difference could be migrated via editing. I am indifferent to the different tilt of the car. As for the environment, it might be possible to edit the pictures and blur the background a bit on both pictures so that it looks like the background was out of focused and will not matter in this case, but otherwise I do not think it matters much considering the size of the pictures in the article. ~ Aseleste (t, e | c, l) 08:49, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
General comment These pictures are of both RHD and LHD models. If it matters I would think here you might want to lean RHD if possible. Sammy D III (talk) 12:53, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
The pic of the car with the Esslingen number plates looks better to me: Less reflections, better illumination, and much better viewing angle. Best, --Johannes (Talk) (Contribs) (Articles) 00:23, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
- Johannes Maximilian But it filthy, wouldn't it be better to have a polished shiny examples? --Vauxford (talk) 00:45, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
- The polished shiny example is so dark that you cannot tell how clean it is. Best, --Johannes (Talk) (Contribs) (Articles) 00:59, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
- Johannes Maximilian Are you seriously saying that you don't prefer it because it so dark that you couldn't tell if it dirty or not? I had quite a few pictures replaced by users because they had "too much dirt", I avoid photographing cars if they had too much mud etc and now that basically redundant since it don't matter anymore? --Vauxford (talk) 14:00, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
I'm saying that your photograph has neither well lit shadows, nor was it taken from an ideal angle. By angle I'm referring to the position of the camera in relation to the car's steering angle. Best, --Johannes (Talk) (Contribs) (Articles) 14:34, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
- Where's the problem, if that's his opinion? Of course a clean vehicle is preferable, but I think the German MX-30 just looks like many cars look in winter. If we have a 'dirty' vehicle in a bright picture and a clean vehicle in a picture with some shadows, then it is not as clear as you say here. By the way, the roof of the British MX-30 seems also a bit muddy...--Alexander-93 (talk) 14:40, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
- I am desperately tired of these conversations, but I somewhat (like 86 points versus 85 points) prefer the German pictures. They are rather washed out, but the distracting background in the British pictures is a bigger negative for me. Anyhow, hopefully someone will spot an MX-30 in a field before long and we can go do something more useful with our time. Mr.choppers | ✎ 01:54, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
- The German rear image is a weird angle as well. Mr.choppers I'm sorry for these tiring discussions. I really don't see the British one anymore distracting then the German one, there less cars, it behind a wall/glass. --Vauxford (talk) 19:44, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
Off-topic

Commentary Semi off-topic but I remember a few years ago I got into a dispute with this same person over photos regarding the Audi Q3. However, on that discussion, users were basically saying "bright colours and correct angle = bad" and as a result they kept the (IMO) god awful dull grey dark one and horrible angle as the main picture! So what I'm seeing is a flip-flop of preference of which photo is better. I wish more people from the Automobile project to have their own thought but because I cried wolf so much they just stopped caring. --Vauxford (talk) 14:14, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
