The above account of the actual site of the Mayflower steps is correct in that the old cliff face is located behind the admiral McBride public house and can still be made out. This was the extent of the waters edge and has, over the years been reclaimed. The steps themselves are believed to be beneath the ladies toilets in the public house. How many female guests to the premesis have unwittingly "sat" on the Mayflower steps may never be known?
