Purpose
[edit]Just to note, as dismbiguation page, the only topics and articles that require listing here are those which could plausibly be the intended target when someone searches on, or creates a wikilink to, Mayan. It is not a navigational aide or general listing of all articles conceivably connected to Maya(n) topics, and it's counter-productive to bloat out the list with links to all and sundry.--cjllw ʘ TALK 01:04, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
- Amen, cjilw, and congratulations to the editors of this page. I christen this the worst DAB that I've seen in the last 3 years. If you had taken the time to read the MOS, you'd know this much: "Disambiguation pages are solely intended to allow the user to choose from a list of ... articles" MOS:DAB. You also ignored these important rules:
- No "Partial title matches" Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Lists
- "Only include articles whose subject might reasonably be called by the ambiguous title" MOS:DAB#Organization
- Entry permitted "if the subject is commonly referred to simply by Title" MOS:DAB#Introductory_line

Mayan as an adjective for the people is a mistake?
[edit]Not according to a few well known dictionaries:
- Oxford English Dictionary: "relating to or denoting the Maya people".
- Collins English Dictionary: "of, relating to, or characteristic of the Maya or any of their languages".
- Merriam-Webster: "a member of the peoples speaking Mayan languages".
- Wiktionary: "Of, or relating to the Maya people of Central America."
So who decided it was a mistake? --194.176.105.6 (talk) 09:24, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
