Birth name

[edit]

It's a known fact that her mother is a Bosniak and her fathers mother was a Bosniak but his father was a Bosnian Serb. Her birth name is Maida. Replacing Maida with "Maja" because there aren't any sources proving her birth name is Maida is just as wrong. There aren't any sources proving her birth name is Maja. Her stage name is Maya.--Sabahudin9 (talk) 12:53, 18 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

As per Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons, these intricate details should be sourced. There may be some mentioning of her ethnic origin or name in interviews or biographies; perhaps there is some interview with her that you can add as a source?--Zoupan 14:42, 18 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Well the thing is she does very few interviews and NEVER talks about her ethnicity on camera. Part of my family is originally from Bratunac (they've since returned) and live a village away from her Serb family members. Her cousin Aleksandra Berović just graduated with my cousin in Zvornik. The family celebrates Christmas and Eid. The only thing Maya has said is that she is Bosnian and took it as a compliment when she was called the "Bosnian Ceca".--Sabahudin9 (talk) 14:47, 18 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Serbian?

[edit]

Seriously? Try to justify that, please.--Sabahudin9 (talk) 14:56, 18 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Maja is Bosnian-Serbian. Србија24 (talk) 19:41, 18 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I added an source in German language. --Aždaja (talk) 17:48, 23 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Edit war over nationality

[edit]

There seems to be an edit war going on over her nationality. Wikipedia has a policy Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. This says "any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source using an inline citation; material not meeting this standard may be removed. This policy extends that principle, adding that contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced should be removed immediately and without discussion."

The article has citations that say that Maya Berović is Serbian. If you wish to challenge the reliability of those sources, you should do so on the talk page here.

You cannot just change statements in the article to say something different and place them next to citations that do not back up the new statements. That is misleading and against policy. Toddy1 (talk) 19:53, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Change it to "Berović performing in 2017" (or "Berović in 2017" for consistency), per file description and history. --5.43.83.177 (talk) 16:09, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
