Historical and Political Aspects of Prof Westenhofer's expulsion from Chile
[edit]I've added some historical information about Prof Westenhofer expulsion from Chile regarding his report about the poor hygenical conditions of poor urban areas of Santiago and also nursing homes. Specifically, his report was critical on the nursing homes run by the local church and also showing the high social and economical inequity present in the Chilean society at the time. His report caused controversy among political and religious parties involved in the management of the nursing homes, which led to his deportation from Chile. Also, this incident explains the support from his students, the federation of students of the University of Chile, as well as liberal political parties. I think that this historical clarification is essential to understand why he created such a controversy in Chile leading to his deportation. Refs can be found in the Annals of the University of Chile (http://www.revistas.uchile.cl/index.php/ANUC/article/viewFile/10921/11177). Thanks. Rodrigja
- Thanks for those additions. There's just one detail it would be nice to modify: you have used the reference "<ref name=uchile>" whereas the article already had references to that same paper, but also adding the page number, in the form "<ref name=SW93>Sievers Wicke (1958) page 93</ref>" for example. It would make the presentation more uniform and give a little more information if you could bring those new references into the same form. SamuelTheGhost (talk) 14:33, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
- Agree. I will try to consolidate the refs. Rodrigja
