bass drumming

"slow bass drum kicks"? have any of you ever listened to kataklysm? kataklysm has possibly the fastest bass drum work i have ever heard from a real (i.e., not drum machine) drummer; Max Duhammel is right up there with Max Kolesne and Kevin Talley when it comes to bass drum rolling. good example: "Il Diavolo In Me," from Epic... from 1:52-2:12 (20 seconds), there's a rolling bass drum pattern of AT LEAST 200 kicks... that's 10 kicks 'per second.'
...so i ask, is Max Duhamel really known for his slow bass drum kicks?
