For Benedictine monks that largely remain invisible to much of the world, there are two monks in particular that are most notable. The "Abbot Primate" is elected to serve as the representative of the Benedictine Confederation to the Vatican. He, in turn, appoints a “Prior” to oversee the daily work of the Primatial Abbey of Sant’Anselmo and the College of Sant'Anselmo in Rome. In spite of their international notability amongst Catholics and as two highly visible Benedictine monks who are noted for their education and expertise in various fields, neither has an article of their own. I am starting with this article for Prior Mauritius Wilde and will follow with an article for the Abbot Primate Gregory Polan.
