Moved from article
[edit]I have moved the following text (added by User:81.159.100.217 on Jan. 14, 2005) from the article:
A personal note. Maurice Girodias entered into an agreement with the New English Library in London in 1965. He became friends with the then managing director and was, despite the above paragraph, anything but a dull sort. It is true that he was a comple idiot in business matters but not, at least in this transaction, seriously dishonest. He understood modern English literature and was an excellent and fast-working editor. He was also surprisingly charming and always said he had made a living as a gigolo when he was in his late teens. The association with the New English Library only lasted about a year as Girodias was very keen on pushing the bounds of censorship until there was a court case which he saw as a potential for great publicity. The management was not in agreement.

I removed the reference to a "T.C." edition of Lawrence's "Lady Chatterley's Lover" because there was no such edition. Patk 04:32, 21 September 2006 (UTC) Perfectly OK to remove that from the article. There may well be good reasons. Nevertheless it is absolutely true. I WAS the managing director concerned, I had an immense affection from Maurice and, yes, he was lousy at business. The New English Library at the time was a wholly owned subsidiary of the New American Library which was, at the time, owned by the Times Mirror in Los Angeles and the Chandlers were not happy about the association with the Olympia Press. 121.209.168.146 00:06, 6 November 2007 (UTC) Gareth Powell gp@mail.com
Valeria Solanas / I Shot Andy Warhol
[edit]This article should include info on Girodias's publication of Valerie Solanas (who intended to shoot Girodias but had to make do with Andy Warhol). I'll get to it if no-one beats me to it!

Fair use rationale for Image:Girodias.jpg
[edit]Image:Girodias.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Recent biography
[edit]The reference section might be expanded to include the following recent biography of Jack Kahane by Neil Pearson
OBELISK A history of Jack Kahane and the Obelisk Press 494pp. Liverpool University Press. 978 1 84631 101 7
Neil Pearson is an apologist for both Girodias and Kahane. Obelisk was moderately favourably reviewed in the TLS of 5 December 2007. Everybody got to be somewhere! (talk) 22:15, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
