[edit]I have added almost all the information in the history section. I have lived in Heth Township most of my life, as has my family. I am also a descendant of the Maucks. Much of my information is from family knowledge and things generally known in the area. I have added an external link to an Harrison County historical website about Mauckport that can confirm much of what I have added.
One thing I am not certain of is the Mauckport Fire and entirely what was destroyed and the impact on the town. I am also not perfectly certain of the year which I have put at circa 1950. I use that as date because there are sports trophies from the school which was destroyed in the fire, on display in the townships new school. The newest of the trophies date to the 40s.

Like i said above i wrote most of the entire history section. i based most of my information of the mauckport town history page which i linked at the bottom of the article. I didn't think it was necesary to make references to the same page on every paragraph.. But almost everything is verifiable there.Cool10191 (talk) 20:00, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
Someone has remove the section saying there was no town fire. This is definatly inaccurate, the fire may not have been spread over the whole town but there was a major fire that destroyed several town stores and the town school. Their charred remans are in the middle of the town right now.Cool10191 (talk) 20:01, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
Town name change
[edit]I have found some contradictory sources on the town's name change. For example, in one source linked on this page the town was said to be originally called New Market and then changed to mauckport later on. In another source, which i believe is more accurate, it says the town was originally called Mauck's Port, then in the 1840 the citizens petetioned to change it to New Market, then about the time is was incorporated it was changed back to Mauckport because their was already another New Market. No sure what to do here..Cool10191 (talk) 19:53, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
