How is the name pronounced?
[edit]Is it two or three syllables? Highnumber (talk) 17:33, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
It's actually pronounced with 3 syllables. But there has been disaqreements on rather its pronounced like the city of MADISON in Wisconsin, or with a "t" sound in the middle: ma-TT-e-son. User:Thriller95 I*S*T 16:38, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
Joel Aldrich Matteson (August 8, 1808 – January 31, 1873) was the tenth Governor of Illinois, serving from 1853 to 1857. In 1855, he became the first governor to reside in the Illinois Executive Mansion. The village of Matteson, Illinois is named in his honor. A check with the Matteson Historical Society indicates that Mr. Matteson pronounced his name with three syllables - mat-tes-sun. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ValerieDe (talk • contribs) 22:03, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
