[edit]Rearranged the article some what, and also added some new info - Welshy 22:13, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
The name of Matt Skiba's wife is not Jennifer, it's Monica Parker.
Also - need to add some info on the latest Blink-182 business. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.49.26.87 (talk) 16:37, 18 March 2015 (UTC)
Sources
[edit]There seems to be some kind of revert war going on here, concerning his wife.
Until an acceptable source can be found, it will be kept as monica parker. I will revert all changes that change that.
Also, we need sources people. I've added markers to show where I think we need them. Add your own if you think the statement needs to be sourced. Let's clean up this article.
Thanks Welshy 03:52, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
- Well seeing as someone has copied the WHOLE article from this [1], I think it'd be suitable to add that as a source. Edward Nygma 21:27, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
I don't have any sources but I would say that Misfits are a bigger influence than both the Ramones and Social Distortion for Matt. /Sven
- I don't have a recording from the show I went to in April(seeing as, you know, it wasn't allowed and you shouldn't pirate stuff from bands you love, but tit for tat), but Matt is indeed a very, very large fan of The Misfits, especially circa Danzig, as he had a few minute interlude about why they rock.--King of Rain 04:17, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
I am deleting the last line in the Personal Life section. It is false information. I found the article in which the information was taken, and it was actually the INTERVIEWER who stated that he is moving to Vancouver, NOT Skiba. Here is the link to the article: http://www.punknews.org/article/37105 bead1212 22 Nov 2010 (UTC)
Satanist? Atheist?
[edit]In the Guitar World magazine interview, it's stated that while Matt's indeed a card carrying member of the Church of Satan, he's also an Atheist, stating that "I just like to pull out the card to watch them squirm." So, for the sake of information, shouldn't that be added in to his bio? -richardstone15 23 June 2006, 22:30
According to the Satanists "the concept of "I am my own god" with a full explanation of the Satanic egocentric view of the world. This short essay states that as all gods are of human creation, worshipping an external god is to worship another human by proxy; therefore, the sensible, Satanic approach is to create your own god, namely yourself, and to "worship" this god. The result, of course, is to view oneself as the most important of all beings, and to adopt an unapologetically self-centered view of the world and course of action." Does that actually make you not an athiest?
Jerkwater
[edit]Alright, this has bugged me for a very long time now.
The article that the Jerkwater link links to on Matt's page leads to a Brooklyn, New York band that was started by three friends in 1998.
The problem arising from that is that, nowhere on their page (Jerkwater, that is), does it reference Matt as having anything to do with the band in any capacity. And, besides that problem, Matt was still in Chicago working on Alkaline Trio in 1998, if not touring for the release of Goddamnit, which was released in 1997. In long and short, source for this, please.
Answer: I went to high school (McHenry East) with Skiba and Rob Doran. Skiba was a year older but Rob Doran was in my class. Anyway, their band was indeed called Jerkwater. Actually if I recall the band was first named Blunt and then they changed it to Jerkwater. I remember thinking I liked the name Blunt better. They just did local shows and had a self-made tape floating around. But I can honestly say that Jerkwater did certainly exist. This was about 1994. Actually I just checked my 1995 yearbook and there is a picture of Jerkwater in it, from the Battle of the Bands. Skiba is there on drums. There's your proof, though I don't know if I'll ever bother scanning it or anything. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.6.95.128 (talk) 03:21, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- another answer: I remember seeing Jerkwater play at the P.I.T. skatepark in Rockford in the mid 90's. This band existed. Who really cares if random internet people belive it or not. They did do a 7in though. There is a live recording that may or may not still be floating around the net as well. I haven't checked out this link and it may or may nopt have anything to do with the band Matt played drums in. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.115.21.26 (talk) 05:44, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
Height
[edit]Skiba is not 6'4 so i deleted it. I have a picture with him, and he is an inch or two taller than me and im barely 5'11. Tall..yes..6'4..no —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.242.24.25 (talk) 04:53, 21 February 2007 (UTC).
Fair use rationale for Image:Matt Skiba WFth.jpg
[edit]Image:Matt Skiba WFth.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
