Content dispute

[edit]

There has been a recent spate of additions to this page that violate various policies, and seems to be axe-grinding. Some was content cobbled together from sources that make no mention of Lesser (WP:SYNTH). Some are primary sources cobbled together to make a point (WP:SYNTH, WP:PRIMARY). Some are from advocacy groups (like the Yankee Institute for Public Policy). All of this content was undue weight. Please obtain consensus before restoring any part of this challenged content (WP:ONUS), especially on this biography of a living person). Neutralitytalk 03:05, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I undid your last edit. I am sorry but I must agree with anon user relative to your last edit. Source you provided still did not indicate lesser graduated. It is possible he ended his leave and dropped out in 2010. Either way, it is not accurate to say he graduated. No source confirms that. Furthermore, I am unsure why you are removing a mention of a petition. Petitions (through the first amendment) are the only power peoplw really have to directly respond to a decision they feel did not represent them. I appreciate your efforts, but to erase info is not unbiased. To include truthful info is not negative but truthful, and hence i agree that your axe grinding label is 'disingenuous'. I agree that you should attempt to reword rather than erase publicized and published fact. HungarianBulldogRidingBullFrog (talk) 03:12, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Look, this is getting to the point of disruptive editing - (1) the stuff about not having a "real job" is silly, unsourced, and apparently wrong; (2) this CTInsider insider cite says nothing about ballot order; (3) he was not "re-elected" to the Senate in 2020, as that was his first election to that chamber; (4) the block quote cited to a YouTube clip is WP:UNDUE; (5) the content cited to the Yankee Institute (a conservative think tank/advocacy group) is both poorly sourced and undue. This has been repeatedly pointed out to you.
Also, are you and the IP address above associated in any way? Neutralitytalk 00:14, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like I'm mistaken on #3, as he seems to have been first elected in 2018 (the lead section does not yet make this clear); the other points stand, though. Neutralitytalk 00:30, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What is your source for saying he actually had job? Since you insist that I'm wrong HungarianBulldogRidingBullFrog (talk) 00:31, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not playing this cutesy game. It's pretty obvious what this is intended to do ("candidate X has never held a real job"). But to focus on the specific issue: I don't need a source to remove content. You need a source to add content. This is real basic stuff (WP:V) and is a basic prerequisite for editing this encyclopedia. Incidentally, it seems that Lesser at least at some point was executive director of a nonprofit. Neutralitytalk 00:37, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies. My source was CT Senate wiki page that lists occupation as "Former State Rep...". Wasnt trying to be "cutesy" HungarianBulldogRidingBullFrog (talk) 01:00, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
