Category:Pimps and madams

[edit]

As she was running brothels there is nothing with including here in the Category:Pimps and madams. ED I don't understand your motivation to remove the category. Can you explain here please? Thanks Abbatai 17:06, 28 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Pimps and madams own prostitutes. She merely owned brothels. Big difference. Étienne Dolet (talk) 17:28, 28 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That "owning" you cite is not such thing as having commodities(Also my comparison might be not suitable at edit summary). All in all the prostitutes are people offering some service and Manukyan had those women for sex business. See Procuring (prostitution) A procurer, colloquially called a pimp (if male) or a madam (if female), is an agent for prostitutes who collects part of their earnings. The procurer may receive this money in return for advertising services, physical protection, or for providing, and possibly monopolizing, a location where the prostitute may engage clients..--Abbatai 17:53, 28 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Matild Manukyan wasn't an owner or an agent for prostitutes. She was merely a brothel owner which was one of her many business ventures. Also, for such a strong claim, you'd need a source that'll be direct in saying that she was a pimp/madam. Do you have one? Étienne Dolet (talk) 18:24, 28 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I advise you to read article she even accused of hiring underage women in her brothels. Well a person can have many titles according to her works. She was real estate owner and madam at the same time. But her name mostly related to prostitution business in Turkey. Stop your Armenian POV push. Being a madam is not a bad thing at all.--Abbatai 18:36, 28 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
No, she was accused of doing so. But this doesn't mean she actually was one. Like I said, she was an owner of many brothels, and I highly doubt a millionaire like herself would go around doing the dirty work of selling women as a pimp/madam. Again, unless we can find a source that says directly that she's a pimp/madam, then this category doesn't belong. Étienne Dolet (talk) 18:47, 28 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

What you think is your POV ED, again please read the article first. It says she made her fortune from brothel business. BTW now there is a reference I added. Thanks--Abbatai 18:51, 28 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

And which part of that article says she's a pimp/madam? Étienne Dolet (talk) 19:02, 28 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It is not a mystery. Use f3 "madam".--Abbatai 19:09, 28 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The source is behind a paywall. Étienne Dolet (talk) 19:16, 28 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding these two edits [1] [2] clearly you are not here (See WP:NOTHERE) to improve article but push your Armenian POV as you think an ethnic Armenian woman cannot involve sex business which you think is a dirty thing. It is obviously violation of AA2 just saying. Thanks --Abbatai 14:35, 31 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Year of birth

[edit]

The Turkish WP has (1914 - 17 Şubat 2001) for her dates of birth and death.--Johnsoniensis (talk) 14:54, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The LA Times[3] gives her age as 84 at the time of her death in January 2001, which gives a birth date of 1916/7. www.milliyet.com.tr [4], www.biyografi.net [5] and www.findagrave.com [6] give her as born in 1914. --John B123 (talk) 15:40, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
