Merger Proposal
Matchbox is dismally short, and I don't see how it could really be fleshed out to a full sized article. Therefore, I propose it to be merged into this article. Ottoshade (talk) 02:21, 12 May 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose - Two different and related objects. Matchboxes have become collectibles, hence notable enough to deserve a separate article. Interested editors (including those with this hobby) could identify secondary verifiable sources to expand this article. Regards, DPdH (talk) 23:20, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
- Support - no real content to the matchbox article. Can be easily summarised as a section on the Match article with a redirect provided to the section. Buttons0603 (talk) 23:47, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
- I agree with the idea of consolidation, but an alternative idea might be to merge Matchbox with the more extensive Matchbook (to which Matchcover already redirects) and Matchbox. Note that we also have Phillumeny, the art of collecting such objects. Perhaps the simplest idea is to merge both Matchcover and Matchbook to separate sections on Phillumeny; that might act as a helpful location to consolidate and compare these topics. - Per article Matchbox, it is a box that holds matches. Per article Matchbook, it is a folder that encloses matches. Matchcover is a covering on a matchbox or matchbook. They are all physical enclosures for matches, or part of the enclosure. Whereas Phillumeny is a hobby. I suggest merging and redirecting Matchbox, Matchbook, and Matchcover to their own sections in article Match, and leave the Phillumeny article as is. Bammesk (talk) 02:58, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
