In regards to the History section of this article: It is noted that more work/research needs to be done regarding the history of MA27 and its routing, especially south of Wayland. I am close to certain a bypass was built in Medfield from Route 109 to Hospital Road (and the Sherborn town line) about 1965, though I have not been able to locate any detailed information that could be used as a decent reference. The old MA 27 alignment though Medfield would have been routed on North Street, then Harding, then Hospital Road as far as I can ascertain. In all it is a significant bypass at being about 3 or 4 miles in length, so I think it ought to be included in this article if someone can access good-quality sources). County Route 27 ?
[edit]In its passage through Acton, there is a single sign on the northbound side that reads Middlesex County Rte 27. I never noticed it before tonight, but there is a look of some slight antiquity about it, so I suspect it isn't new. Does anyone know if the road was ever so designated? I'm not aware that Massachusetts ever had numbered county routes such as one sees in many other states. I debated whether the sign's intent was to mark a county line, but then realized that one was well into Middlesex County at the point where I observed it. Route 27 passes through Carlisle
[edit]The route description section of the article says "It sweeps by Carlisle before directly crossing into Westford, passing through the southeast corner of town before heading into Chelmsford." However when looking at a map of the route you can clearly see that the route does briefly pass through Carlisle before entering Chelmsford. You can see that clearly on Google Maps, ACME Mapper, or any other mapping service which shows the borders of New England towns
Carlisle themselves also say that Massachusetts Route 27 passes through their town on their own website: https://www.carlisle.org/about.htm
