[edit]Some sources have Missa solemnis in C major, - for those the present lead is correct, but doesn't match the article name, which has "Solemnis" as a descriptive, not the genre missa solemnis. Other sources, especially the NMA, has no "solemnis" whatsoever. What should we do? Move to Missa in C major, K. 337, with a lead: The Missa in C major, K. 337, is a missa solemnis by WAM? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:08, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
- The current name of the page was discussed here: Talk:List of masses by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart#Renaming proposed. Can you live with the consensus reached there? There's no shame in thinking it is time for a WP:CCC, but I'd go through WP:RM then as a page move after that elaborate discussion with a broad consensus, without a broader consultation now would be contentious. Anyhow I'd go for Missa solemnis in C Major, K. 337 then (compare [1]), which was one of my proposals in the above-linked prior discussion, but didn't make it to the final round of the renaming scheme discussed there.
- Is "Solemnis" (with S capitalized) a nickname for this mass? I mean, we know it is a Missa solemnis, but far from the only Missa solemnis composed by Mozart. If we can't find a "Solemnis" nickname indication in a reliable source for this particular mass, the "... "Solemnis"" ending the current page name seems a bit inadequate. --Francis Schonken (talk) 11:40, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
- I agree, but won't put effort in this, just noticed in passing (all masses by Mozart are on my watchlist, - the Great Mass in C minor is in a miserable state, hint hint.). Thank you for the link to the discussion, which I had expected on this talk. Not now, for me at least. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:48, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
