"History"
[edit]The oil discovery led to petrochemical industry development and also the establishment of industries that strongly depended on oil.
That's it? There is a nice 3-part German docu... this changed world history, decided World War 1. D'arcy was almost bankrupt, the drillers already had the order to get back to UK, he lost all he got from Australian gold mines until the driller chief decided to continue a bit and there was an oil explosion and over 100,000 liters were shooting out of the well, it took days until they could somehow controll the well, far over hundred thousand us gallons of crude oil went out in 3-4 days without any chance for them to stop it, (at least until 1917 this was the by far most important World War 1 ressource at all, in late 1917 the US joined and maybe they had not such large fields but they were the leader for a century as you can see below and in 2014 almost a new peak (old peak 1970) was made, but the OPEC price collapse did not allow this, but it will come, US + Canadian heavy oil imports will cover again over 90% of US demand soon,
the Royal Navy was superior to any German, Ottoman, or the extreme small Austrian-Hungarian ship or for the last one patrol boats on the rivers in today Austria and Hungary, but also the logistic boats on rivers in these areas had no oil engine but steam engines with coal, while the UK/Allies at least had a bit motorized logistic, diesel already limited use and they did build much aircraft, so did the Germans but they had almost no fuel for them while the Allies had enough for all of them, even for the poor aircraft, locomotives for oil could be used in UK, tractors, pipelines were laid, in 1912 the UK finished the world largest petrochemical complex in Abadan, Persia (Iran today), with a pipeline laid from Masjed Soleyman, but in the hills of Chuzestan it took thousands of workers to lay it, only in the loweder area tractors from UK were shipped in and helped to lay the pipeline, another ten thousands were preparing Abadans infrastructure (the port, the giant petrochemical complex, oil tanks, space for oil tankers which were rapidly being produced or started production directly after the oil was found in 1908, until 1914 they had a nice fleet, more than enough for the UK's demand, and they even supplied France and the other Allies, Russia collapsed because of the Revolution but had its oil at this time from very small wells in Russia and from Baku until 1917!
What UK had build in Abadan was even larger than the US, Baku or Romanian Ploesti, Indochina/Indonesia or Venezuela complexes, even though the US was the "Saudi Arabia" of today for around a century between 1861 and the 1950's... Abadan was because Churchill, Chief of Royal Navy, decided so, all available ressources were invested because of the oil found in Masjed Soleyman! Ressources only Rockefeller maybe could afford as private person otherwise, since the Empire was a World Power between 1908 and 1917... not like today...
1950: top 3 crude oil producers in metric tons:
1. USA 296.0 million tons (1951: 337.1, 1952: 343.4, 1970: 533.5 million tons!) 2. Venezuela 80.0 million tons 3. Soviet Union 37.9 million tons (extreme slow recovery since West Siberian fields were discovered between 1948 and 1955, the soviets started flooding the oil market in late 50's with that oil, the US production was extreme increasing but so was the demand after World War 2, this flood and a unasked reduction by the "Seven Sisters" (Western Oil "OPEC" of companies if you want so, they ruled the oil world for over 100 years, and they made the borders in the Middle East, thats why they are so straight, since they divided countries so that one Country would not be like Saudi Arabia + Kuwait (only created because 50% of kuwaits ground is a giant oil field, not Iraq and not Saudis should have such a oil amount on such a small area, so Kuwait was born...), especially in Europe and Japan and some Commonwealth Nations)
2014:
1. Saudi Arabia: 543.4 million tons (not a peak but histroc record high) 2. Russia: 534.1 million tons (in its todays border, while the 1950 figure includes ALL the other countries, I think together they are 13 or 14 countries today and over 22 million square km, this today is "only" Russia and its over 17 million square kilometer) 3. USA: 519.9 (Fracking, Shale Oil, in 2008 the US production was only 304.9 million tons! Lowest since 1950, in 1951 it had been 337.1 million tons)
OR: It could be mentioned a bit more/better! Greetings from Germany, Europe! Kilon22 (talk) 22:35, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
