Importance
[edit]There are over 200 bicycle manufacturers listed on Wikipedia. Masi is no less significant than any of these, and more significant than most. Some of the greatest names in cycling have raced Masi bicycles, people such as Fausto Coppi, Felice Gimondi, Jacques Anquetil and Eddy Merckx. The character of Dave Stohler rodis a 1978 Masi Gran Criterium movie Breaking Away, which won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.
Masi today provide the bikes for the Inferno Pro Cycling Team and are one of the manufacturers reviving the use of steel frames on race and road bikes.

- Other stuff exists isn't a very good argument. As for the names of major cyclists who have ridden these bikes, you should find reliable sources that verify that, and add it to the article, so that the article clearly shows that the company is notable. Irbisgreif (talk) 20:42, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
- Well, maybe give him a couple of days to do that? Niten (talk) 22:47, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
- Icd, I am on your side. Please continue to improve the article and ignore Irbisgreif's negative, discouraging attitude. As you mentioned here, the company has some interesting and significant history, it would be cool to expand upon that. Cheers, —fudoreaper (talk) 22:49, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sorry for being on the encyclopædia's side. But pages have to meet some minimal standards when created. Irbisgreif (talk) 22:50, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
- We're all on the encyclopedia's side. But articles are not created fully-formed. It's quite depressing to create an article and to have to marked for deletion so quickly. Would it kill you to wait a few days before jumping on the delete button? Better yet, help improve the article. Icd (talk) 22:59, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
- Er...I would say I'm on the encyclopædia's side. I want it to contain all interesting articles. In the long run (or even a month or two down the road) this article should have sources. But it's still only a couple of days since it was created. Given time, I believe it'll improve. If not, you can delete it then.
- For example, here's the first entry on Dell Computers, which went months before it was modified: Dell Computers. Now, here's Dell Computers today. It'll improve with time! Niten (talk) 23:01, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
- I would agree that this article does not reflect the importance of the Masi brand. Faliero Masi was one of the premier bicycle builders in Europe from the end of World War II until the early 1970s. His frames are regarded as some of the best examples of Italian bikes, and his frames were ridden to many major race victories. All of this is summed up as : "Faliero Masi commenced making bicycle frames at the Vigorelli Velodrome in Milano in the 1950s, after a career as a professional racer and team mechanic." Really? Many of the "blogs" that are cited as sources are accurate. This article could be useful if it were allowed to cite these sources. Laffeaux (talk) 19:37, 28 July 2015 (UTC)
Warning Templates
[edit]OrangeMike, please consider your edits more carefully. I am finding your edits to be unhelpful. This article is new, just three days old. I recently removed a lot of warning templates, replacing them all with a Stub marker. As this article is so new, it of course needs improvement, expansion, references, wikification. Adding a large warning template stating this is not needed. Again, that's why it's marked as a stub: it is far from complete.
Secondly, I am disappointed that after asking for references, and observing the links Icd added, you rejected these contributions without examining them. You appear to have used a thoughtless appeal to policy on reliable sources, instead of using the sound judgement of a good editor, which would have showed the references to be non-problematic, and quite solid. Thus, you forced Icd to counter and justify your content deletion of the references you asking Icd to provide.
My concern here is that you are being unduly harsh on this new article, and discouraging editors who are trying to expand and improve Wikipedia with actual content additions. Especially a new editor could be scared away forever, instead of learning, participating, and eventually becoming a seasoned member of the wikipedia community. Certainly pointing out factual errors and areas that need improvement are beneficial contributions, but think of how to do this in a spirit of helpfulness and encouragement, instead of a discouraging manner. —fudoreaper (talk) 18:46, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
