Goldberg "shoot" - unclear wording

[edit]

The article notes "In a match against WCW's Bill Goldberg, Chono supposedly "shot the match" (actually hurting the opponent) and dislocated his shoulder. Given Goldberg's temperament and abuse of other wrestlers, it would stand to reason his actions and personality would conflict with NJPW employees seeing as how Japanese pro-wrestling puts more emphasis on the match instead of the gimmick." The sentence in italics doesn't make any sense. What are we trying to say here? Patiwat 06:19, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think it means Goldberg used to treat certain wrestlers badly —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.80.197.212 (talk) 14:55, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Waitaminute. Chono wasn't born in Seattle. He was born in Tokyo. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.193.215.240 (talk) 17:55, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, he was born in Seattle because his parents lived in there till Chono was 2. His father had business there.

Meltzer's HOF bio in 2004 says he was born in Mitaka. Dan20001 (talk) 08:06, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is because Chono was a Kikokushijo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kikokushijo). Prior to 60's, Japanese government could not recognize the foreign-born Japanese as legal Japanese citizens when they returned to Japan, so in large and common cases, the families that returned to Japan from foreign countries re-registered the birth certificates of their children, which in this case, Chono was "born in Seattle," but his birth was "certified in Mitaka." New Japan Pro-Wrestling's website says Chono was born in Seattle. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.115.18.207 (talk) 23:21, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Article doesn't even mention that Chono books and runs NJPW's Premium brand.

[edit]

I think this is a incredibly important for obvious reasons considering NJPW is arguably the biggest promotion in Japan. Thus him booking the promotion is a big deal. Punch999 (talk) 04:37, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
