[edit]Should've done an edit summary ... I found a fairly brief page and expanded it with the help of some online material. I've read only Gaitskill's first two books (and was trying to teach "Secretary" in freshman comp back in 1993), but have always liked her work and hope to pick up Veronica in paperback. Anyway I hope the expanded article gives a better sense of her and her work. --Andersonblog, 4/28/2006
"Despite her well-known S/M themes, Gaitskill does not consider Sade himself an influence: "I don't think much of Sade as a writer, although I enjoyed beating off to him as a child."
Can someone please clarify who Sade is? Thank you.
I assume that is the French libertine Marquis de Sade.
Hm, guess I should've linked Sade. Will do. --Andersonblog 05:35, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
The quotation from Gaitskill on the film version needs a citation.--216.62.86.116 (talk) 14:53, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
