There are some sources that claim (incorrectly) that it is unclear whether the character Madelyn Mack first appeared in print or in film. Although the 1914 book collection of 5 stories includes photos from the silent films, the written stories clearly predate the film. Search newspaper archives and you can find the stories being serialized in several newspapers around the United States in 1909 and 1910, well predating the two films which Waschin documents were released in 1913 and 1914. --Krelnik (talk) 20:45, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
