Rathke disambiguation needed
[edit]There was a piano factory named Rathke in St Petersburg, that built pianos from 1868 - 1917 to my knowledge. [1]
So page named "Rathke" should not just redirect here, but should be a disambiguation.90.190.225.121 (talk) 11:10, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Confirmation of Rathke Pianos
[edit]I will return to complete this once I can gather appropriate citations. There was indeed a piano manufacturer, Rathke, (confirmed in a reference on justanswers.com, as part of a professional appraisal of an 1882 upright Rathke) working in St Petersburg, Russia, from the 1860s until -- I believe -- the late 1890s (as I said, sources needed). In keeping with a general style of pianos made during this time in parts of northern and eastern Germany, Estonia, and Poland, many Rathkes were upright and highly decorated. There are further investigations needed due to the presence of several musicians active during the same period and in the same geography, all with the surname Rathke. This calls into question any connections amongst these individuals, as well as the origin of and any connections to the piano company.
I am also aware of another Rathke of St Petersburg with clear demarcations and small internal writing that align with sales during the period. This piano, purchased in St. Petersburg, was moved to a town in Poland close to the Russian border, in 1918. It is now in Tbilisi, held by the same family that purchased it originally. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.185.41.220 (talk) 02:48, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
