Chart Lists
[edit]I can't find the Chart positions for the Greek releases. I am sure 'Popcorn' was in the top 5 in Greece and The Balkan States but cannot find a referance. Undo records only formally released the Albums in Greece. But the majority of sales in Europe and USA were by Internet and download. Hence the Incomplete list tag. Help needed please. This new album contains songs from Marsheaux's archives that hadn't been released before. Instead, according to our own (unsourced) definition at studio album, "A studio album contains newly written and recorded or previously unreleased or remixed material, distinguishing itself from a compilation or reissue album of previously recorded material, or live recording made at a performance venue." Neither is this type of release mentioned in compilation album. So I suggest we either find a reliable definition for "studio album" and "compilation album" or this title shouldn't be listed as a compilation. After all, the tracks have been recorded in a studio and were not taken from existing releases. A compilation of existing songs may actually not be a compilation album. - I'm inclined to agree. A compilation is usually something like a greatest hits CD. This is unreleased tracks... although I suppose you could say that the CD is a collection of old tracks, which could make it a compilation. Darn, now I've confused myself... --Psygremlin (talk) 15:15, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
- On the other hand this somewhat unreliable review claims that some tracks have been on singles before, or are outtakes from previous and an upcoming album sessions. Hrm, we may have to wait for professional reviews to make that decision for us. De728631 (talk) 15:31, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
- I've checked the tracks of E-Bay Queen is Dead and found that the following songs have in fact been released elsewhere before:
- "How Does It Feel?" (Lumineux Noir limited ed. CD 2 and Breakthrough EP [1])
- "Bizarre Love Duo" ("Ghost" single, 2008 [2])
- "Regret" (Peekaboo)
- See also the album's page with a detailed track list at Undo Records. Marsheaux refer to their 4th studio album Inhale which is obviously their new from-scratch-project. I think E-Bay Queen is Dead may be a "mash-up" of a studio album with unreleased tracks and a compilation of old songs but as it is looking more and more like a real compilation album I suggest we edit the album article to reflect that. - Some tracks like Bizarre Love Duo, Sadly, How Does It Feel?, She's Leaving were previously released. I consider E-Bay Queen Is Dead a compilation. If the other users will consider it as a studio album, I will not insist. Deepblue1 (talk) 19:57, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
- Alright, I'm now going to chance the E-Bay Queen is Dead article to a compilation album. De728631 (talk) 19:46, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
