The first attribution indicates the "College of Marshall" donated the land for Marshall High School in 1898. I think this might be a mistake. The College of Marshall was founded in 1912 and received donated land itself from the heirs of Issac Van Zandt. There was another institution though not accredited that was named "Marshall University" This Secondary Education institute served Harrison County and East Texas for much of the mid 19th Century and was folded into Marshall Independent School District in 1910 according to the Handbook of Texas History http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/kbm06
According to MISD's High School page the former "Marshall University" institution was the lessee of the building for the original Marshall High School. http://mhs.marshallisd.com/?PageName=%27AboutTheSchool%27
East Texas Baptist University is the surviving Higher Education Institution that was formerly known as the College of Marshall. Still located on Issac Van Zandt's former Planatation in Marshall, Texas. http://www.etbu.edu/about/glance/ --Carazariah (talk) 18:19, 18 March 2015 (UTC)
