Alsatian?
[edit]The opening sentence of the article is supposed to give the nationality of the subject. In Wirtz's case it seems problematic. He was born in Strasbourg in 1943, at a time when Alsace, previously part of France, had been occupied and annexed by Germany. Wirtz spent his childhood in Germany; Strasbourg was later returned to France. Wirtz seems to have spent different parts of his life in the UK, Switzerland and the US. Biographies and obituaries tend to avoid giving him a "nationality", and his own website biography here does describe him as "Alsatian-born". That seems unsatisfactory to me, but is there a better alternative? Ghmyrtle (talk) 07:12, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
