I found the reference to his Battlestar appearance in the following podcast: http://media.scifi.com/battlestar/downloads/podcast/mp3/roundtable/roundtable.mp3 I'm not quite sure how to list this reference. Punkgeek 01:32, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed: Sheppard's professional musical accomplishments

[edit]

I can't find anything to support Vdodgy's claim, handed down from the original article [[1]], that Sheppard was ever a touring or recording member of the alternative rock band School of Fish. AllMusic.com also does not list Sheppard on the credits for either of the band's studio albums.

I have similar concerns for the claims of recording or touring with Robyn Hitchcock, Television Personalities and Light a Big Fire, as well as the general statement, "...recorded albums for many groups..."

I've added several references to support these claims, including a 1992 article in the Daily News of Los Angeles, as well as several references for his acting career. - Dravecky (talk) 04:05, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Listen, I want Mr. Sheppard to be as cool as he can be. Every time I see Badger or Romo Lampkin I get giggly like a Tauron schoolgirl. And to me almost nothing could be cooler than having been part of the band School of Fish, who had a major alt-radio hit single in 1991 with the song 3 Strange Days.

Unfortunately, I cannot find one single reference, anywhere other than this article, and sources elsewhere quite obviously plagarized from herein, which confirms that Mr. Sheppard had anything to do with the aforementioned band School of Fish. In fact, I have found just the opposite...AllMusic.com also does not list Sheppard on the credits for either of the band's studio albums, and, School of Fish makes no mention of Mr. Sheppard, either.

As for the claim that Mr. Sheppard "...recorded albums for many groups throughout Europe," well, I'll need to see references before I am satisfied.

Finally, about that Daily News of Los Angeles reference: I can't find a digital version anywhere in the free world. I assume you're working from hard copy, or perhaps a subscription archive service? Would it be possible to add a scanned image of the article to WikiMedia?xpanmanx (talk) 06:06, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Time Marched On
I found the website of the Daily News of Los Angeles and searched the archives for "Mark Sheppard". There are two 2015 articles about "Supernatural" that briefly mention him. There is a 2009 'Letter to the Editor' about builders during the Great Recession, but I have no idea if it is the actor or the next man --> in a 2009 article about a Mark Sheppard who worked in the San Bernardino County Assessor’s Office. No articles from 1992 popped up. https://www.dailynews.com/?s=Mark+Sheppard&orderby=date&order=desc
Thank you for your time. Sorry I couldn't find the article. Maybe the archives don't go that far back (though I think that they would say so)? Wordreader (talk) 00:40, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Got to say that my mates and I went with Mark down to the Marquee in Wardour Street where they were playing circa 1985? It was The Barracudas and Mark was the drummer. We were all a large mass of Thursdays/Friday nights from The Devonshire, Camden. Many other post punk bands hanged out there including The Pogues. 31.94.33.216 (talk) 18:34, 7 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Doctor Who / Star Trek Actors

[edit]

I'm not sure I'd classify 13 actors who have been in both Doctor Who and Star Trek as 'few' (see this List on Memory Alpha). I'm not entirely sure it adds any particular value to the biography, other than maybe a few extra cool points. If you start going down that route though, why not say "He's the only actor to have appeared in both Battlestar Galactica and Doctor Who' or 'Burn Notice and Doctor Who' or any of the other distinctions he has. Given the lack of response to the contrary I'll remove the content. Twirrim (talk) 04:28, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

DOB

[edit]

Per the query by LienEmpire on my talk page re DOB... See WP:DOB, and WP:CITEIMDB. As discussed on talk pages of other articles, IMDb is not a reliable source for DOB, and DOB should only be included if all criteria are filled, among others "widely published by reliable sources, or by sources linked to the subject such that it may reasonably be inferred that the subject does not object to the details being made public". If in doubt, err on the side of caution and leave it out. I have not searched for this one, and if you feel that the sources you have found fill the above criteria and are not just star chat or gossip copied from IMDb or Wikipedia, then feel free to re-add DOB.
