Another article which had confused Specialist Operations and Specialist Crime and Operations - he is head of the former not the latter. ReaverMan (talk) 10:48, 7 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

QPM

[edit]

The police medal is awarded in a moment in time. An actual tangible object, bearing the reigning monarch image. It is not an ongoing status or office such as that of Queen's Counsel immediately becoming King's Counsel. Those that have been awarded have been awarded as the medal was at that point in time. It doesn't change just because for subsequent awards they stopped awarding the "King's Police and Fire Services Medal" and awarded separate medals for police and the fire services, or in this case the reigning monarch is now a King so the medals being awarded is now the King's medal instead of the Queen's medal. You can see that by looking at how the government refers to previous recipient such as in this April 2023 article on gov.uk on the appointment of inspectors of police & fire service — "Lee Freeman KPM and Michelle Skeer QPM". -- KTC (talk) 15:34, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

User talk:Hemiauchenia#what did i violate in mark rowley

Rowley has faced high-profile calls to resign because of the force’s threat to arrest an “openly Jewish” man, Gideon Falter, the chief executive of the Campaign Against Anti-Semitism, while he was in the visual presence of a Palestine rally in London. [1][2] Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said Rowley needed to regain “confidence and trust” with the Jewish community in order to retain his own support. Rowley said calling Falter "openly Jewish" was "clumsy". [3] The Met Police have admitted mistakes in policing of pro-Palestinian protests but have denied two-tier policing [4]. NotQualified (talk) 22:47, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How about finding some sources other than the Telegraph for this? If there really have been 'high-profile' calls for anything, they shouldn't be difficult to find. AndyTheGrump (talk) 22:52, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Further to the above, read WP:SYNTH. The last source you cite makes no mention of Rowley or of Falter at all. AndyTheGrump (talk) 23:06, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
oh i thought that the last source was to give context amid a backdrop of failures, not to implicate rowley directly. maybe i shouldve written, 'for context, this was not a unique occurance amongst the met to not act appropriately' NotQualified (talk) 23:10, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia does not base content on whatever some random contributor thinks is 'context'. That is precisely what WP:SYNTH is about. Anyway, I see that Hemiauchenia has now added content on this matter, which appears to describe the events in a more balanced manner (and without copy-pasting phrases from a source). How about we leave it at that? AndyTheGrump (talk) 23:14, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
awesome NotQualified (talk) 23:36, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
wait no, no mention of rishi sunaks remarks are present, he was literally the prime minister and directly commented on rowley needing to do more or he'd lose his support. thats crucial. NotQualified (talk) 23:39, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
"In April 2024, Rowley faced calls to resign after Met officers described Campaign Against Antisemitism CEO Gideon Falter as "openly Jewish" during a request for him to move away from a pro-Palestinian protest."
this does not sound right, it was not a "request", it was a threat to arrest him and that him looking "openly jewish" was a provocation. what hemi wrote doesnt seem to hit the balance.

I really don't think we need a long quote from Falter. It's not like Rowley actually personally said it, and I think the quote from Sunak is enough. Hemiauchenia (talk) 15:31, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(this is in reference to a discussion on the original link asking why my edit was taken down). i mean, falter and rowley are the main participants of this and it's not a long quote, it's a sentence. NotQualified (talk) 15:53, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
rowley didnt say it, it was said by falter directly about rowley NotQualified (talk) 15:53, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Falter's opinion is much less relevant than that of Rishi Sunak the literal Prime Minister, and quoting his opinion at length as if it's equivalent in weight to Sunak's is undue. Hemiauchenia (talk) 16:41, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
theyre both a sentence each in quotation. also falter is the direct victim here, not a random person. i disagree that his opinion is less relevant, he is the one affected while sunak is commenting from second hand but authority NotQualified (talk) 16:53, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
