I am RichBryan (talk). I am employed full time by Paccar. I edit Paccar-related articles by request from others who also work for the company. Paccar does not employ staff to contribute to Wikipedia, however Paccar has appointed staff to contribute as a supplementary job responsibility.
WebSolEditor (talk) is my coworker at Paccar. She has made her WP:COI declaration here: WebSolEditor.
Formerly, we (RichBryan and WebSolEditor) used and shared the user account Paccar984 (talk) to edit Paccar-related articles. We no longer practice sharing of an account.

Links
[edit]I have started to use internal links within the text, and move external links down into footnotes. In some cases I have simply replaced the external links with internal, as they were for the home pages of the relevant organisation, rather than a specific news page mentioning Pigott. There are more like that which have yet to be checked. – Fayenatic London 20:19, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
Conflict of interest indeed
[edit]I don't think I've ever stumbled across a more self-gushing auto?biography than this one. This person might hurt themselves if they thump themselves on the back any harder. I read all the glassdoor reviews about Paccar and the common theme seems to be that the CEO is a less than charming individual that rules through fear. I read his bio and he seems to rival Jesus for good deeds. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.199.227.75 (talk) 12:26, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
- I got the same feeling immediately, after having come to these Paccar Wikipedia entries because of the generally negative reviews (e.g., by employees) of the company's leadership from around the web. This particular entry reads more like a resume and/or memoir than an encyclopedia entry, which is all the more disturbing because it seems to contradict the statements of many employees elsewhere on the web. Furthermore, knowing that the company is essentially curating these entries (as confirmed in the disclosures here), and referring specifically to Glassdoor reviews as "libelous" is a little surreal, contributing to the company brochure/annual report feeling of this entry. --Biturica (talk) 22:54, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
COI declarations discussion
[edit]This help request has been answered. If you need more help, you can , contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse. |
What does the contributor community think about moving the "COI declarations" section up, so that it appears above the "Conflict of interest indeed" section? I think that would improve the continuity of conversation on this talk page.
Also, I'd like to get the COI box updated. I don't know what to call it (connected contributor box?). It is out-of-date, but I do not think it would be appropriate for me to update it for WP:COI reasons. RichBryan (talk) 02:09, 20 October 2014 (UTC)
- @RichBryan: The "help me" template is used for requesting help with something specific to your situation, like technical support. Not for soliciting input on a content dispute. In my opinion, there doesn't seem to be a content dispute though, so just be WP:BOLD and do it. Grognard Chess (talk) Ping when replying 02:51, 20 October 2014 (UTC)
- @Chess: Thanks. I agree that this is not a content dispute. I was intending to get input on my suggestions to improve this article's talk page. I have a WP:COI on this article. I take that seriously and extend it to the talk page. I think it's important for me to request input before editing. I understand that I did that in an inapropriate way. Is there an appropriate template for me to use in this situation? I have, in the past, asked specific contributors to review my edits. I don't think that's really the right way. I think that there should be a method (and maybe there is already) for people with WP:COI complications to request review. RichBryan (talk) 07:27, 20 October 2014 (UTC)
- @RichBryan: You can use Template:Request edit. If nobody responds to your request, you could probably just WP:BEBOLD and make the change yourself, disclosing the COI in the edit summary. Just ask for an opinion on the general state of your COI and how it affected the article with {{help-me}} every once in a while, which I guess might work. Grognard Chess (talk) Ping when replying 07:35, 20 October 2014 (UTC)
- Done. I also removed material with obsolete/superseded declarations. It is still retrievable in the history of this page. – Fayenatic London 22:56, 29 October 2014 (UTC)
- @Fayenatic london:, and @Chess: Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it. RichBryan (talk) 06:28, 6 November 2014 (UTC)

Edits by User:WebSolEditor
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. Your request does not specify which source applies to which portion of the text. If a COI edit request contains a verbatim copy of the requested text, this ought to include properly formatted references placed at the precise location where a claim is made (See WP:INTEGRITY). "Please add the following text" is not acceptable and will be rejected; the request must be of the form "Please change x to y using z as the reference". |
@WebSolEditor: why did you trim so many full citations down to bare links in this edit?[1]
That edit does not appear to be constructive, so I have reinstated the previous version, retaining only the updated stats and awards, and the updated version of the portrait with grey hair.
Please re-read WP:Conflict of interest, and follow it by making edit requests on this talk page from now on, rather than editing the article. – Fayenatic London 22:53, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
- PACCAR should always be spelled in ALL CAPS. I corrected several instances of "Paccar" and you overwrote them. I'm happy to add back any citations that may have been removed.
- The Environmental Leadership paragraph was removed completely. Would you please add this back?
- Environmental leadership
- PACCAR is an environmental leader with its energy-efficient vehicles and manufacturing facilities. PACCAR joined the CDP[9] (formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project) in 2014 and earned an "A" rating in 2018. The CDP’s climate change program provides annual reports on 6000 companies’ progress in the development of energy-efficient operations and environmentally friendly products and services that protect and preserve the environment.
- Mark Pigott has been a strong supporter of environmental stewardship. He promotes a spirit of innovation and quality control throughout the workplace and invests in new cutting-edge technology, which has led to the development of aerodynamic designs and hybrid vehicles that promote fuel efficiency. As a result of this commitment and leadership, PACCAR has been recognized by the Washington State Business Roundtable.[10] Every PACCAR manufacturing facility has earned environmental certification ISO 14001. PACCAR's brands Kenworth and Peterbilt are leaders in Diesel-Electric Hybrid technology installed in medium duty trucks.

[edit]Unable to review edit request Your edit request could not be reviewed because it is unclear which references are connected to which claim statements in the text of your proposal. When proposing edit requests it is important to highlight in the text, through the use of ref tags, which specific sources are doing the referencing for each claim. The point of these inline ref tags is to allow the reviewer and readers to check that the material is sourced; that point will be lost if the ref tags are not clearly placed. Note the example below:
INCORRECTThe Sun's diameter is 864,337.3 miles, while the Moon's diameter is 2,159 miles.[1] The Sun's temperature is 5,778 degrees Kelvin.[2]
References
None provided.
In the example above there are no references provided. Thus, the claim statements do not contain ref tags indicating which reference would apply where. Your edit request similarly does not specify where any of the references used (but not provided) would be placed. The request does contain numbers placed within brackets (e.g., [1], [2], etc) but these bracketed numbers are not linked to any sources on the talk page. These links between material and their source references must be more clearly made, as shown in the next example below:
CORRECTThe Sun's diameter is 864,337.3 miles,[1] while the Moon's diameter is 2,159 miles.[2] The Sun's temperature is 5,778 degrees Kelvin.[3]
References
In the example above, the links between the provided references and their claim statement ref tags are perfectly clear. Kindly reformulate your edit request so that it aligns more with the second example above, and feel free to re-submit that edit request at your earliest convenience. [edit]For the record: See also related discussions at Teahouse and my talk page.
@WebSolEditor: I have reinstated the all-caps version of Paccar. Usage seems to be evenly split between caps and non-caps versions in the financial press, but the guidance at MOS:CAPSACRS allows all-caps for acronyms, so I have accepted your preference.
I have also traced and reinstated some other insertions and amendments from your wholesale revision [2] on 26 February.
To find out the rationale for past deletions or other changes, please click on "View history" at the top of the article, and read the edit summaries.
The "Environmental leadership" paragraph was removed in 2016 [3] with the clear explanation in the edit summary, "delete section, effectively not referenced, and not about Mark Pigott".
The "Quotes" paragraph was removed in 2014 [4] again with a clear explanation in the edit summary, "Remove section as not relevant to this biography".
Although you stated on my talk page that your sandbox is "current", it was a copy of the article from 2014, which you have since been editing without reference the article. I think that is how you managed to discard so many constructive edits by other contributors: you updated some points in your old sandbox copy, then pasted that into the live article, overwriting the latest version. By all means do use your sandbox to experiment and draft your proposed changes, but first take a current copy of the article and paste it into your sandbox.
Although you have provided many citations, some of them do not support the statement they are supporting, e.g. Mr Pigott's lecturing at various universities. Please provide specific citations for all the statements in the article. – Fayenatic London 14:28, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
