- Mario Rodríguez (soccer) → Mario Rodríguez (soccer, born 1994)
- Mario Rafael Rodríguez → Mario Rodríguez (footballer, born 1981)
- Mario Rodríguez (Argentine footballer) → Mario Rodríguez (footballer, born 1937)
- Mario Antonio Rodríguez → Mario Rodríguez (footballer, born 1995)
- Mario Rodríguez Ruiz → Mario Rodríguez (footballer, born 1997)
- Mario Rodríguez Bañuelos → Mario Rodríguez (footballer, born 1991)
- Mario Rodríguez Cervantes → Mario Rodríguez (footballer, born 1978)
– No WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for (soccer) disambiguator, and WP:COMMONNAME for all footballers is just "Mario Rodríguez" omitting middle and maternal last names. Birth year preferred disambiguator in this case since there is overlaps in nationalities, and diambiguated to standard for footballers. Ortizesp (talk) 13:31, 6 July 2020 (UTC)
- Strongly support 1st per nom. Neutral / weak support on the rest (just don't know enough about them to form a stronger opinion. It seems they all go by "Mario Rodríguez", so if they do, support.) Paintspot Infez (talk) 15:06, 6 July 2020 (UTC)
- Note: This discussion has been included in WikiProject Football's list of association football-related page moves. GiantSnowman 10:51, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
- Support per nom. GiantSnowman 10:53, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
- Support moving this page. Oppose adding parenthetical disambiguation to the others, since they are already naturally disambiguated. Neutral on the Argentina player. kennethaw88 • talk 02:13, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
- Support all per standard Wikipedia disambiguation. No need for middle names or maternal surnames. Footballers' names should be depicted in the forms used by football databases, as proposed in the nomination. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 06:55, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
- Support as consistent for footballers with Spanish names.--Bob not snob (talk) 07:25, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
- Support all but 1st nomination - the 1st nomination should be moved to Mario Rodríguez (footballer, born 1994), as in line with the others.Abcmaxx (talk) 14:34, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
- The already-established guideline is to use "soccer" instead of "footballer" for American players. See Wikipedia:Naming conventions (sportspeople)#Association football (soccer). Paintspot Infez (talk) 14:51, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose all but the first. The players' names are already naturally disambiguated. OP has not provided a single source proving that these are their common names or even explained how their birth years could be more useful or accurate than their actual surnames. Full surnames are consistently used by primary sources, e.g.:
- "Biografía de Mario Rafael Rodríguez..." (1)
He is known mainly by his full name or just Mario (5). By the way, the correct spelling is Ruiz not *Ruíz (no accent).
- Last but not least, in agreement with what Roman said above, databases do use the full names (e.g.: https://fbref.com/en/players/7632952c/Mario-Rodriguez-Cervantes https://www.whoscored.com/Players/36388/Show/Mario-Rodriguez-Cervantes https://ligamx.net/cancha/jugador/16151/mario-rodriguez-cervantes https://fbref.com/en/players/c95cef99/Mario-Rodriguez-Banuelos https://www.ligamx.net/cancha/jugador/58214/mario-rodriguez-banuelos https://www.espn.in/football/player/_/id/184358/mario-rodriguez-banuelos)
- Neodop (talk) 15:07, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
- The common name of the footballers omits maternal last name and middle names, databases often list their full names even when not commonly used. And the current standard is inconsistent (some footballers disambiguated with parentheticals, others with extraneous names), so I think a standardized format is preferred.--Ortizesp (talk) 19:15, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
