Use of historic front-page newspaper image
[edit]The use of the historic front-page newspaper image is intended to significantly increase the reader's knowledge of the subject. The swim was upstaged by this young upstart Canadian who was taking the spotlight away from a well-known American swimmer. Her achievement was a small but significant event in the growing city which had been overshadowed by USA cities like Buffalo. The citizens took huge pride that a Canadian could do the event, and turned out in the hundreds of thousands. The newspapers started a reporting war, trying to be the newspaper with the inside scoop. - Here, the fact that Bell made front page news in multiple newspapers is adequately presented in text, and while the image is a nice illustration, it is ultimately replaceable by that text. 24.151.10.165 (talk) 18:04, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
