A fact from Marie Jansen appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 23 January 2014 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Did you know... that Marie Jansen reportedly earned a half a million dollars in musical theatre, but after declaring bankruptcy was unable to pay her weekly seven dollar lodging bill while working as a seamstress?
Some sources give her birthdate as 1849 (agreeing with the New York TImes). Can anyone find a birth record, or graduation date from the conservatory? -- Ssilvers (talk) 18:53, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a birth date of November 18, 1857, derived from her age (12) at the time of the taking of the 1870 census and the birthday (not the year) she recorded on her 1891 passport application. John F. Barlow (talk) 00:27, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
