I just reverted making this a redirect. The Austrian Maria Theresa may be more famous, but please leave the redirect page, it is more in line with Wikipedia naming policy. Thanks, -- Infrogmation 16:07, 30 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Could you please point out what specific policy you are referring to? It seems that this is a pretty clear case for a "primary topic" disambiguation, for these reasons:
- Maria Theresa of Austria is one of the most well-known and most important rulers in central European history, while Maria Theresa of Spain is an obscure French queen consort (and not even a ruler).
- Usually, someone speaking simply of Maria Theresa means Maria Theresa of Austria. An equivalent example would be, say, if there were a somewhat known 20th century author named George Washington (with maybe one or two bestsellers) whom we would have to disambiguate from the historical figure. Surely, in such a case an equal treatment disambiguation would not be warrented.
- The sheer number of links to the respective pages, including the links to the disambiguation pages, shows the case in point.
Note that Maria Theresa of Austria now includes a link to Maria Theresa of Spain, which you should have reverted along with reinstating the "equal topic" disambiguation. Martg76 03:45, 31 Jan 2005 (UTC)

I agree with Martg76; this is a clear-cut case of a primary topic. Maria Theresa should be a redirect to Maria Theresa of Austria. Olessi 17:39, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
