living?
[edit]is she still living? xlynx 13:19, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- I haven't been able to discover that, but it's unlikely. She would have been 100 last year. Paul B 16:51, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- I've checked up. She died in 1992. Paul B 17:26, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- Isn't the girl in those photos given in the link actually Eva Braun? Looks like her, and and the angle and pose of the girl and Hitler is almost identical to a series taken from Hitler and Eva Braun. You can even recognize those sofas being used in Berghof from other photographs. Hitler had a short affair with Maria Reiter in 1926, finished the same year. Berghof was built after 1933. Besides, color film (Kodachrome and Agfacolor) used in photography wasn't really there before 1935-36. --62.121.57.34 12:30, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
- I couldn't say, but the consensus seems to be that it is MR.[1] Paul B 16:41, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
- Well, yes. They claim the photo is taken during Hitler's birthday in April 1939 in Berghof and the girl is supposed to be Maria Reiter. If he really was friendly enough with her to call her celebrate his birthday 13 years after their relationship was over, it wouldn't be impossible then. The girl in the photo looks about 30 or so. I have to go through my books again. --Ukas 02:59, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
- By the way, do you have a source for her death date?
- The date comes from George Duncan's Women of the Third Reich. Paul B 13:09, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
Fiancee ?
[edit]♠The article says in its first sentence that MR was AH's fiancee, but it seems pretty clear that there was no announced engagement. No story of her getting a ring, telling her friends and other things. Young girls do that sort of thing --a lot-- when they get engaged.
Also, when you read the article, it --on its face--pretty much denies that they were engaged. AH made a pass at her, said "Oh baby, I love you so much and really want to marry you and have lots of little Aryans, but gee I'm busy taking over the world right now... so, can't we just shack up for the time being from time to time when I take a breather?" to which Mitzi probably replied "Hmmm... I've heard this before."
Seriously, is there any evidence at all that they were actually engaged (rather than just having him toss the idea around)? All the evidence that I've ever seen points to the opposite conclusion. And it's really out of character for AH to do this --at this point in his life anyway IMHO.♠ SixBlueFish (talk) 22:21, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
In regard to discussion of the photograph, above: the woman in the photo is neither Eva Braun nor Maria Reiter. She is the Gertrud Deetz, the wife of Albert Forster, Gaulieter of Danzig and Hitler's 'point man' in Poland, in the run-up to the war. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Justwanderinby (talk • contribs) 03:49, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
