Requested move
[edit]Maria Mercedes (actor) → Maria Mercedes – The current article at Maria Mercedes is simply a redirect to the disambiguation page Mercedes. As there is no other Maria Mercedes, it would make sense for Maria Mercedes (actor) to be moved there. — Robwingfield (talk) 17:09, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

- Oppose for now. There is, of course, at least one other Maria Mercedes, the one to which the redirect used to go: Infanta Maria de las Mercedes of Spain which is now a redirect to Mercedes of Spain, which is itself a disambiguation page, the original article for that Maria Mercedes is now at Mercedes, Princess of Asturias. So the proponent's original claim is false. That doesn't mean that there couldn't be some rearranging, possibly even ending up as this was proposed (making sure there is also an appropriate disambiguation page or disambiguation line), but nobody should jump into it without considering that one and looking into the possibility of some other Maria Mercedes, especially if another one also has a Wikipedia article. - In response to Gene Nygaard above, that's a María de las Mercedes, not Maria Mercedes. I would propose to put an "other uses" or suchlike template on the Maria Mercedes article if it were moved. Robwingfield (talk) 17:32, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
- There are other actresses named Maria Mercedes. [1] [2] There is also the beatified Maria Mercedes Prat [3]. And, what may be the most common reference for Maria Mercedes is the telenovella [4][5] starring Thalía. I'd say Maria Mercedes should be a disambiguation page and María Mercedes should redirect to that. older ≠ wiser 19:52, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
