M.E.R.Maria Elizabeth Rothmann – "M.E.R." means a very many things, as can be seen by all the terms that are shortened from M-word E-word R-word as abbreviations at Mer (disambiguation), so this "M.E.R." should redirect to the disambiguation page. 65.94.76.126 (talk) 22:41, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Survey

[edit]
Feel free to state your position on the renaming proposal by beginning a new line in this section with *'''Support''' or *'''Oppose''', then sign your comment with ~~~~. Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's policy on article titles.
  • Support. Initials are insufficient to identify article subjects properly. We do not use F.D.R. and J.F.K. as article titles, even though most readers know what they mean. So why identify a relatively obscure (to most readers) South African writer only by her initials? Use her full name as the article title, and mention in the intro that she is often known by her initials. Dirac66 (talk) 02:52, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support she may be primary for M.E.R. in Afrikaans, but English books treat her as Maria Elizabeth Rothmann, such as entry "Maria Elizabeth Rothmann" in Dictionary of South African Biography (DSAB). In ictu oculi (talk) 03:12, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. For the above-mentioned reasons. Lientinge (talk) 06:33, 4 June 2013 (UTC).[reply]
