If Ms. Butler "joined the Air Force," could she be working as a civilian? Perhaps "was hired by the Air Force" or "went to work for the Air Force" would be more appropriate?
- I certainly understand your point, but that is the exact wording in the source -- though thank you, because I did note that USAF is anachronistic here -- I have corrected it to Army Air Forces. Cheers! Dumuzid (talk) 14:04, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
