GA Review
[edit]As promised, I'm here to complete this article's review for GA. Overall it is in great shape; well written, correctly formatted, adequately referenced with reliable sources, neutral, stable, and the images are correctly tagged. I have a few suggestions mainly regarding the prose and vagueness in the lead, but other than that I'm satisfied:
- She became the first editor of the Transcendental publication The Dial before joining the staff of the New York Tribune under Horace Greeley: what's the time frame here?
- I just added some years that I think addresses this. --Midnightdreary (talk) 22:02, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- she was sent to Europe for the Tribune... as the first female correspondent?
- Good detail; added. --Midnightdreary (talk) 22:02, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- soon became involved with a revolution in Italy: what does "became involved" entail? Also, what revolution? Just a few words of explanation would help.
- I'm still working this one out so I'm not sure how much more specific I can get. I added Giuseppe Mazzini's name so that might ring a few bells for readers. There's a whole book on those couple years she spent in Italy and there's lots going on; I'm still wrapping my head around it. --Midnightdreary (talk) 22:02, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- While she had been in Groton, Timothy Fuller decided not to run for re-election... While she was in Groton? Also, this sentence makes it sound as if her father decided not to run for re-election as a direct result of her being in school. Could the reason be made more apparent early on?
- Certainly! I think I've clarified this. --Midnightdreary (talk) 22:02, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- though she was never wholly successful: Who does the "she" refer to? Fuller or Farrar?
- I guess either is fine, but I think I was referring to Farrar more specifically. --Midnightdreary (talk) 22:02, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- She used her knowledge by giving private lessons based on the teaching style... "to give private lessons"?
- Done. --Midnightdreary (talk) 22:02, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- While she was still recovering, her father Timothy Fuller... did she have another father besides Tim? :)
- Just the one! Thanks, I've fixed it! --Midnightdreary (talk) 22:02, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- A number of significant figures in the women's rights movement attended these "conversations". Any examples? This may need a ref, as well.
- I'll work on getting a laundry list, with ref. --Midnightdreary (talk) 22:02, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- How did Ralph Waldo Emerson and Fuller meet and become friends? It's not exactly stated, but was he aware of her work? Was she aware of his?
- I'll see if I can get some information on what inspired their first meeting. --Midnightdreary (talk) 22:02, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- she was recognized as one of the most important figures of the transcendental movement: I'm not sure this is as concrete as it should be. Was she recognized solely for her editorial work? This is the first and last time that Transcendentalism is mentioned in the article, so perhaps her role in it can be expanded a little?
- I think her importance was defined by her role with The Dial. She was never identified herself a transcendentalist so it sort of falls off the map. I'll see what further discussion I can add. --Midnightdreary (talk) 22:02, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
Mostly minor stuff, but other than that I believe the article is in great shape. I'm looking forward to promoting it to GA-status once the above concerns have been addressed or otherwise explained away. Nice work, as always! María (habla conmigo) 16:25, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- I might need some time to flesh out the couple parts above that are mentioned. Thanks very much for taking the time to review!! --Midnightdreary (talk) 22:02, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- No problem, take as long as you need. I'll be fighting forest fires over at Stephen Crane... :/ María (habla conmigo) 12:17, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- I think I'm ready for you to review your review and my updates. I couldn't help but add even more than I originally intended, but I did address (I believe) your questions regarding the relationship to Emerson, transcendentalism, and the Revolution in Italy. Let me know what you think. --Midnightdreary (talk) 17:08, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

- Definitely better; the lead especially has improved and the Emerson/Transcendentalism and revolution sections are much more clear now. All of my concerns have been addressed, so I'm happy to promote this article to GA-class. Congrats! :) María (habla conmigo) 17:58, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
