I have amended the claim "Whilst Fairlie was the first female professor in Scotland, she was not the first Scottish female professor, being preceded by six years by Agnes Marshall Cowan" as Cowan was not the first either. I am not sure who was, but Doris Mackinnon from Aberdeen, (who incidentally was a staff member at University College, Dundee when Fairlie was a student there) was appointed a Professor at King's College London in 1927. The cited source also does not seem to claim Cowan was the first female Scottish professor in any case, so I have changed the statement to "she was not the first Scottish female professor, for example being preceded by Doris Mackinnon and Agnes Marshall Cowan". There is also the case of another Dundee alumna, Dr Ruth Wilson (later Young), who in 1917 held the title of "Professor of Surgery at Lady Hardinge Medical College in Delhi".[1]Dunarc (talk) 15:53, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
