Name Margaret in other languages
[edit]Do we need it if there is such a big list of Variant forms? Trosmisiek (talk) 03:08, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
Brackets around languages names
[edit]What are they for? Maybe it is better to put parentheses around the whole list, like

Meaning confusion
[edit]Supposedly Margarita is Spanish for daisy, as in the flower (indeed a daisy enemy in Paper Mario is called a pun on Margarita in the Spanish version).. but it's Greek for pearl... and the English name Daisy is somehow a nickname for Margaret. What? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.182.130.241 (talk) 00:00, 2 October 2013 (UTC)
- It went from Greek to Latin then to Spanish and French. It very likely came to England from France where it was (and still is) quite commonly used. Alestane (talk) 11:54, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
"Peggy" ?
[edit]Please would someone explain how Margaret became shortened to "Peggy" ? Darkman101 (talk) 22:55, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
"Marga" in sanskrit is road and "rta" truth, divine law etc. - see how Daisy is built with Fibonacci spirals inside! Margrieta is also Daisy in Latvian, but pearl is "pērle" and to shine or to blink is "mirgot" "mirdzēt", for this there is another woman person name "Mirdza". So "pearl" and "shine" is different story, close in transliteration, but different. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Loshuliganos (talk • contribs) 11:33, 24 June 2015 (UTC)
Daisy, citation needed
[edit]A citation needed has been added for Daisy being a nickname of Margaret, however, in the linked article, it explains why in the first paragraph, with a citation. Would it be proper to simply use the same citation as in the Daisy article? Why would this need a citation and not other names listed? 96.32.204.73 (talk) 19:45, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
