Redirect
[edit]You notice that on 12 December 2011, the page was turned into a redirect by member colleague AnemoneProjectors who is very active on X Factor pages and knows the proper procedures in Wikipedia... But those who contributed to the page before it was turned to a redirect should not despair. The decision to make it one had valid reasons for sure. But this Marcus Collins page will be back in most probability, and very soon I believe. I was a great fan of Collins throughout his performances. But all is not lost. What you can actually do, if you really care about Collins, is to save a copy of the deleted page to your own member's page, here's a copy just prior to its removal (here)), develop it further on your page for a possible relaunching in the future. Another option is to develop the section List of The X Factor finalists (UK series 8)#Marcus Collins. It surely needs some development there. werldwayd (talk) 16:42, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
Requested move

The result of the proposal was no consensus. --BDD (talk) 20:11, 22 October 2012 (UTC) (non-admin closure)
– Nothing whatsoever to do with recentism. He was viewed over 17,000 times last month and the other guy not even 300. Unreal7 (talk) 09:05, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose - 'Last month' is recent. This person does not seem to be the main person of the name, and is correctly disambiguated.--ZooFamily (talk) 21:17, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- The entertainer is a singer too. Unreal7 (talk) 17:46, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
- Support. In the last 90 days, the entertainer got 841 page views, the singer 48,606, and the album 5,826. If we assume that those viewing the album are a subset of those viewing the singer, he is getting over 98 percent of the relevant traffic -- the clear WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Kauffner (talk) 16:38, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
- Support - Strong page views. Marcus Qwertyus (talk) 11:50, 14 October 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose. Far too early to call, both of them most notable for recent talent show appearances (depite the twelve year age difference). Web traffic stats almost meaningless in such a scenario. So for now the DAB should stay at the undisambiguated name, and until and unless one of them does something of lasting significance (and either or both well may do so), it may stay there permanently. Andrewa (talk) 16:43, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
- Fourteen years actually. When has the other Marcus Collins ever been notable at all? Do that many people even know his name? He's known for several very minor acting roles and for being in a group that didn't even make the top 3 of America's Got Talent in 2009 and has done nothing since then, whereas this Marcus Collins was the runner-up of The X Factor and has had some relative success. If the wikitraffic was only by like a few thousand or something then it wouldn't matter, but when the difference is THIS big, you can't say one isn't more notable than the other. Not even 300 for the American this month, over 13,000 for the Englishman. It also takes numerous pages with a "Marcus Collins" Google search before you find anything not about this guy. The result of the move request was: Moved. (closed by a page mover) Omni Flames (talk) 00:04, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
Even five years after The X Factor he's still managed 10,000 hits in the last three months, and the next most viewed is his album.[1] Unreal7 (talk) 21:14, 5 June 2016 (UTC)
- Support, he seems like the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC to me. Note that I am aware of the previous move discussion, but I think the status quo has changed. ONR (talk) 01:47, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
- Support. The architect is distinguished by his middle name, the American entertainer was redirected at AfD. I don't see a problem with this move. PC78 (talk) 12:06, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
- Support. I don't think we really need to count pageviews here, as there are now only two articles with the title "Marcus Collins", one being the singer and the other being his album. As PC78 points out, of the other dab entries, one is a redirect and the other uses a middle name. anemoneprojectors 12:47, 8 June 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose. Not well-known enough to be a primary topic. The architect was probably also known as Marcus Collins. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:49, 8 June 2016 (UTC)
- He absolutely is. The architect was viewed 70 times in the last three months. Unreal7 (talk) 10:36, 9 June 2016 (UTC)
