Ok, these "Additional comments..." clearly don't belong the in main article, so I've moved them here. --EssErr 18:16, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Additional comments from a World Cup viewer who did not write this original piece
Balboa's commentary during the World Cup has been very entertaining. Like all public figures, there will be conflicting opinions about these people from the viewing public. To that point, saying that Balboa has 'obvious inexperience' and has shown 'poor performance' is not an opinion that this viewer agrees with. In fact, this viewer is quite pleased with the commentary during this World Cup.
As an additional note, I watched the German/Argentina match in which Lehmann was the subject of comments by Balboa. And like any color commentator in the entire world of sports, Balboa will inevitably pass judgement on players that we viewers will disagree with at times. That is why it is called color commentary.

Controversy

[edit]

Looking through the history, it seems like those who like balboa and keep reverting a page without any negatives and those who dislike him and write negative (sometimes wildly speculative and inappropriate) information. Perhaps we can find a middle ground? I think a controversy section is apropos. I feel like as long as the information in the section is supported by outside sources and presented making minimal judgements, it should be there. Sweeping controversy under the rug is never a good idea. Thoughts?--17.201.42.190 19:55, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that as long as there are good outside sources provided, the controversy should be included. This isn't just a few people on the web whining -- this actually being reported on. I added one source earlier. Any more that people can find is definately appreciated. --Loudsox 01:07, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Marcelo Balboa was widely criticized for his commentary throughout the matches by the vast majority of viewers. This is a fact, not an opinion.

I watched and read a great deal of coverage on Balboa's dismal performance during the World Cup. Nobody has even attributed Balboa's poor performance on Dave O'Brien.
