Mitt Romney controversy
[edit]Any thoughts on whether the recent Mitt Romney controversy should be included? I think that it should be here, just because there will be some traffic coming here because of the comments, and there should be some acknowledgement of the event. There is a persistent effort from an IP address near Boca Raton (the site of the fundraiser controversy) to remove reference to the event.
Any unbiased Wikipedians want to chime in on the appropriateness of including the controversy? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.174.110.7 (talk) 14:29, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
- It's public information, he's notable, he's rich, he's powerful, it may make history, and, if it's true, then it should be included. Bearian (talk) 20:07, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, what Bearian said. I came to this page only because of the controversy. Aardhart (talk) 00:58, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
- Other than the Mitt thing, I have to say that this page reads like it was written by a Sun Capital PR person. Tdslk (talk) 03:04, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, it probably was. Just look at the location of the IP address responsible for many changes (Boca Raton area) and the nature of many of those changes (constantly updating statistics, etc.). Same goes for Sun Capital Partners. There's a lot of solid biographical information in the NYT article if anyone wants to work on integrating it. Mrwilly123 (talk) 05:06, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
- And they are back at it. Aeduffin clearly exists exclusively to add positive details to this and Sun Capital Partners, and remove negative details. DoctorCaligari (talk) 18:23, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- And an IP just edited, deleting properly cited RS refs w text, in line with possible PR for the subject of the article. Can people keep an eye on this? Thanks. DoctorCaligari Mrwilly123 Tdslk 2603:7000:2101:AA00:9DA9:2B98:1019:EB09 (talk) 06:11, 8 August 2023 (UTC)

COI tag (May 2024)
[edit]User:Bradrhoads is clearly a COI editor. Drmies (talk) 01:07, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- I don't think you've taken the time to read what I wrote. I'm a financial news journalist and wiki fan. This is disheartening that when a wiki novice tries to improve an article, he gets slammed by other more experienced writers. After researching Marc Leder and Sun Capital, I found the content confusing and disorganized and decided to help. It took me several hours, first to learn wiki editing and then to do it. Has my edit not improved the page? Take a look at the before and after. There's nothing at all in there but facts and details. Bradrhoads (talk) 01:20, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- You're wrong: I did. You've been here for years, and clearly you knew how to edit back in 2022. Edits like this, that's just resume building, with these non-notable awards, primary sources, and press releases. The edit on Sun Capital Partners was ridiculous--it rewrote the article with text that read like it was copied from a brochure followed by a list of inline URLs to company documents.
