I have given verbatim quotations of the 'Author's Note' printed in this book. I think that this qualifies as Fair use, since a) the aim is non-profit education - informing Wikipedia readers; b) the value of these is that they give the author's own comments on the books, in his own words - something that cannot be achieved by any paraphrasing; c) the amount is insubstantial - a single introductory page that isn't part of the work itself; and d) if there is any effect at all upon the potential market for the copyright works, it must surely be positive - increasing interest in the work. Nevertheless, I'm a novice here; comment upon whether my view is justified or not would be most welcome.
