John Calder / Founders
[edit]I'm not sure who John Calder was beyond the article here, but he certainly was not the same person whom founded the firm, Douglas Calder. —Preceding unsigned comment added by User:206.48.228.168 (talk • contribs) 23:04, 31 July 2006
- I had always understood it was founded by Douglas Calder and John Maples before John started his political career. Is that not correct? Also, please sign your comments. Legis 17:21, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Maples Group
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
On behalf of Maples Group, I ask if Wikipedia editors will consider updating the name of the firm to Maples Group, except when Maples and Calder is preferred for historical purposes. The Group rebranded as "Maples Group" in early 2019.[1] With my conflict of interest, I understand that I should not edit the article myself. Katy at Maples (talk) 21:12, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
- Done Have made that move and changed the name in the body of the text to Maples Group. Britishfinance (talk) 21:23, 13 May 2019 (UTC)

I would like to query whether this should be undone now, there have been several releases by the firm on their website recently reinstating the Maples and Calder brand when describing offices (which anecdotally is extremely confusing but hey ho)
Request to update introduction paragraph
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. The request was not specific enough. |
I work for the Maples Group. I propose the following update to the introduction paragraph of the article to include the Maples Group's business activities as it currently only lists the law firm. The Group's collective services includes an international law firm, advising on the laws of the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Ireland, Jersey and Luxembourg and global fund administration and fiduciary services. I include an independent source to support. [1] Katy at Maples (talk) 22:11, 13 May 2019 (UTC)

Reply 16-MAY-2019
[edit]- The request involving the company's rebranding does not state which sentences within the article contradict this, and would thus need to be removed. Without this description, the adding of an additional explanation for what the company does without removing already existing descriptions would not result in concise lead section. There needs to be an economy of descriptions here for what the company does.
Regards, Spintendo 16:00, 16 May 2019 (UTC) (:)Thank you for your reply, @Spintendo:and thank you for your patience. The first sentence is not correct, the Maples Group is not a multijurisdictional law firm. The Maples Group comprises of an international law firm called Maples and Calder and a funds, fiduciary and entity formation business. Appreciate your help in updating the accuracy of this page. Please let me know if you need any further sources to verify this change. (Katy at Maples (talk) 15:13, 14 January 2020 (UTC))
