Bias toward the United States

If this entry is on Manufacturing per se, in all the world, why is there a section starting like this: "Emerging technologies have provided some new growth in advanced manufacturing employment opportunities in the Manufacturing Belt in the United States."? I suggest we remove the sentence altogether. Forich (talk) 19:25, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

Absorb parts of Industry article?

Hi everyone, I'm trying to get the ball rolling again on splitting the Industry article, which conflates the different meanings of the word (see discussion here). In order to plan out a split without butchering the edit history, I first want to gauge the interest at related articles for absorbing parts from it, or at least taking over priority.

Since the one meaning of industry is practically a synonym for manufacturing, I figured this was a good place to ask. Several of the smaller sections from that article might fit better in industrial society, but there are other bits I think could fit fine here.

Beyond that though, how would everyone feel about me making this sort of the focal point for the concept? Link here from the industry disambiguation page, beef up discussion and out-links to concepts like industrialization, that sort of thing. Zar2gar1 (talk) 22:15, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

On second thought, I read over the article more closely. Even though it emphasizes industrial production, I guess the intent is to cover manufacturing in the wide sense (including craft production). I like it. I'll probably be back around though just to update some links and do some copy-editing. Zar2gar1 (talk) 01:01, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
Still, the two topics are very overlapping, since manufacture sector is synonimous with Industry in Economics. I think a merge is needed. Forich (talk) 02:25, 11 February 2021 (UTC)

Pedantic sentence

I encounter these sentences commonly, and I have a fairly well-developed sense that most casual readers treat this as two scoops of buzzword-compatible word cloud, not even bothering to mentally construct a valid parse tree.

Such goods may be sold to other manufacturers for the production of other more complex products (such as aircraft, household appliances, furniture, sports equipment or automobiles), or distributed via the tertiary industry to end users and consumers (usually through wholesalers, who in turn sell to retailers, who then sell them to individual customers).
