Date of birth?

[edit]

Currently listed as 1990, making him 17, but he's listed in all the news pages as being 24. Can anyone find a reliable source for his year of birth? Darkson (Yabba Dabba Doo!) 17:39, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ignore this - someone changed it will I typed. Darkson (Yabba Dabba Doo!) 17:40, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Work permit

[edit]

Should it be mentioned the current requirement is <70th FIFA ranking?, but currently 73th, subject to Angola 's performance in African Cup of Nations? Matthew_hk tc 18:50, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The current requirement is that the player's country has, on average, been in the top 70 FIFA nations over the last two years. Over the last two years, Angola's average position is 59th, meaning that Manucho is eligible for a work permit. However, his most pressing issue is that he has not played in 75% of Angola's matches over the last two years. – PeeJay 20:11, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sky Sports News has announced that Manucho has been given a work permit. So said Alex Ferguson in an interview anyway. Here's a link: http://www.sportinglife.com/football/premiership/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=soccer/08/08/22/SOCCER_Man_Utd_2nd_Nightlead.html&TEAMHD=premiership —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.42.102.90 (talk) 13:32, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I saw that on SSN last night, but they've not put anything about it on their website. I can't find anything about it on any other common news websites either, and I doubt the reliability of sportinglife.com – PeeJay 14:08, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Any update on the work permit? Had a look but didn't see anything concrete. I do know he's in the team photo for this year, not that that really proves anything.

Strangely enough, there's still been no news. It's weird that Sky Sports would report it on the telly and then that we would hear nothing either from United or even on the Sky Sports website! – PeeJay 16:03, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Move still not completed

[edit]

As per this story on MUFC.com: http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid=%7BB4CEE8FA%2D9A47%2D47BC%2DB069%2D3F7A2F35DB70%7D&newsid=521366 , Gonçalves cannot complete his move until he is awarded a work permit.

Therefore, as of this moment, he is NOT a Man Utd player, and so he should not be added to the united first team list, and United should not be listed as his current club.

This guy has some kind of obsession with not letting people update Manucho's career at Pana. Is there some kind of elite rule against mentioning the goals he has scored?Bathory (talk) 11:42, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Let's not make this personal now. My issue is not with adding the info about the goals Manucho has scored. My issue is with the seemingly indiscriminate addition of info. Sure, Manucho scored two goals in a league game, but I'm sure he's scored two goals in a game before. I'm also sure that there was nothing particularly special about the two he scored for Panathinaikos, so there's no need to mention them here. – PeeJay 12:06, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm with PeeJay, there's no need to catalog every goal he scores for Panathinaikos. His stats in the infobox can update people who are curious. Perhaps a season roundup in the end is worthy of being added, but maintaining an exhaustive listing of each of his goals is overdoing it, and is bound to result in an overly praiseworthy, POV article. If you check out other player articles, only major goals (i.e. one that wins a tournament, or something) are generally added with specifics; otherwise, a general, cited, recap of the season is in order, in my opinion. I agree. If he turns out to be a gal machine, writing 2 or 3 lines for each goal (many of which won't be overly significant in the grand scheme of things) will make the article look awful. Darkson (BOOM! An interception!) 15:27, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
