Connections between Riedbahn and the Darmstadt Mainz line
[edit]Sorry, these informations partially are not right: "The opening of the line from Waldhof through Käfertal to the Rhine Valley line south of the Mannheim central station in 1880, enabled trains to run from the Riedbahn into Mannheim station from the south. In 1975 the railway between Darmstadt and Goddelau was closed due to lack of traffic and partly dismantled. There is currently no connection between the Riedbahn and the Darmstadt Mainz line."
The line between Goddelau and Darmstadt was closed 1970. There was just existing a connection between Darmstadt and Griesheim (midst between Darmstadt and Goddelau), but for freight trains only (one train per day). This chapter ended 1991 when the line was closed. Today rhere is only a small track existing to a firm in Weiterstadt-Riedbahn.
Indeed there are two connections from Riedbahn to the Mainz-Darmstadt line near Gross-Gerau, one from Mainz to Mannheim (from the 1870s) and one from Darmstadt to Mannheim/Biblis for some few freight trains per week. Look at the map, you will find it. The route from Darmstadt to Riedbahn was used for passenger trains until 1995 as a repacement for the former trains via Griesheim to Goddelau. This connection was the last reason to close the Darmstadt-Goddelau line because it was now possible to exchange both lines (Frankfurt-Mannheim and Mainz-Darmstadt) by electric locomotives.

Paris - Frankfurt Line
[edit]The joint-venture high-speed line between Paris and Frankfurt should also be mentioned (in the lede). Serviced by both ICEs and TGVs. 91.195.79.7 (talk) 07:19, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
